Top 10 Electric Scooters For Kids Reviews

Best 10 Electric Scooter for Kids Reviews

If you are buying an electric scooter for a child, than the age you are buying for will be very important. Younger kids will want a scooter with lower speeds to make sure that they are safe. Older kids, teens and adults will want more powerful scooters.

Do you know about twist grip acceleration, expected battery life, the best deck size and the top speeds you should be aiming for? As well as recommendations of electric scooters by age there are also top tips on what to consider when buying an electric scooter.

Best Value Electric Scooter

Razor E90: Recommended Age: 8 Years Old

This Razor Scooter is aimed for kids age 8 plus. However, there are 6 and 7 year olds that can used this scooter, so parents can use their own judgement as to whether the scooter is appropriate for their child.

Speed

It reaches speeds of  up to 10 mph. If they ride a bike, they may very well go faster than this electric scooter when riding a bike so that gives you a benchmark as to the speed of scooter. For young kids, you don't really want them travelling much more quickly than 10mph even if they are mini adrenaline seekers.

Kids will need to get the scooter up to 3mph to kick start the motor. Then press the push button throttle to accelerate further. The push button is easy for kids to use.

Wheels

The urethane wheels are puncture proof and work well on smooth flat surfaces. Air filled tyres are better for older, heavier kids as they will provide a more cushioned ride. But for younger, smaller riders the urethane wheels should be sufficient.

Motor

The hub motor has been designed to be maintenance free unlike the chain driven motors on other Razor scooters. No alignment no chain, and no chain tensioner on the E90.

Battery

The Razor E90 gives about 70 minutes of continuous use on one charge. On the downside, it takes about 12 hours to fully charge the battery.

Brake

There's a hand operated front brake for easy braking.

Razor Power Core E100 Electric Scooter

The Power core E100 is also aimed at kids from aged 8 and goes up to 11mph.

It does differ somewhat in comparison to the Razor Power Core E90. The frame height and width is slightly bigger. It has a twist throttle on the handlebar rather than a push button throttle. It has a slightly higher maximum weight ride at 54kg.

It has up to 60 minutes continuous ride time which is a long battery life compared to other kids electric scooters.

It features a 8 inch pneumatic front tyre and a urethane rear.

Not sure whether to go for the Razor Power Core E90 or the Razor Power Core E100 electric scooter. Check out a comparison here.

Segeway Zing A6 (Great for Younger Kids)

The Segway Ninebot is an awesome choice of entry level electric scooter for young kids from aged 6. It can last them up to 10 years old.  The excellent features include short charging time, lightweight and a top speed of 12km/h (7.5mph).

Ride and Speed

The scooter has 3 gears:

First Gear - Start off slow and steady. The maximum speed is 8km/h (5mph). Kids kick until they reach 8km/h and then the Zing A6 will ride by itself.  The first gear is great for kids just starting out or younger kids who don't want to go too fast.

Second Gear - The scooter reaches speeds of 10km/h (6.2mph)

Third Gear - when they feel confident enough kids can glide at the top speed of up to 12km/h (7.5 mph).

Battery Life

The battery has a charge time of just 3.5 hours and a range of approximately 5km (3.1 miles) on one charge. However, the battery life on all scooters is always affected by weight of the rider, gradient and terrain the scooter is ridden on.

Tyres

The Zinc A6 has a 5-inch PU perfusion front tyre and a 4-inch solid rubber rear tyre. The front tyre is made with a softer material that offers more comfort to the rider. The rear tyre has been redesigned for better grip and anti-skid performance.

Braking

A easy to use rear fender brake will slowly bring kids to a stop. Just step on the brake for a couple of seconds to activate it.

Lightweight and Foldable

The scooter is superlight and weighs only 4.6kg. This makes it a doddle to pick up and transport in the boot of a car.

Lights

Kids are going to love the light up features on the Zinc. Ambient lights are always shining on the footboard while the Zinc is on. In addition, the front wheel lights up when rolling.

Electric Scooter for Kids Ages 6-12

Designed for kids aged 6 years and above, this electric scooter has an adustable handlebar, fast charging, a top speed of 6mph and can be used as both a pedal scooter and a kick scooter.

It's not the speediest of electric scooters making it a good choice for younger kids just starting out.

Kids will need to kick start the scooter. Once kids get the scooter up to 3 miles, they can then step on the sensor which is on the footplate to start the motor and accelerate up to 6 mph. It has a max range of 6.3mph. The range will be dependent on weight of the rider and the terrain they are scooting on.

The light up deck and front wheel is a popular feature with kids. It shines brightly and changes colour.

Three level height adjustments on the handlebar can be set at 74cm, 80cm and 86cm so the scooter will grow with your child.

Megawheels Electric Scooter

The Megawheels is speedy scooter with a height adjustable handlebar that's a good choice for older kids who want a quick scooter.

Handlebar and Age Recommendation

With a 3 level height adjustable handlebar which can be set at 76cm, 86cm and 96cm, Megawheels recommend their scooter for kids aged 10 plus.

The main reason for the higher age recommendation is the scooter can reach speeds of up to 14mph which is pretty fast. Definitely a bit quick for younger kids. Having said this, the top speed will be affected by the weight of the rider and terrain they are riding on. A heavier rider going up hill will go much more slowly. It's worth noting the scooter can handle hills with a 15% gradient (many electric scooters for kids can't handle hills at all)

There is no variable speed on the Megawheels scooter. So if you are scooting along quickly you have to brake to stop, you can't slow down.

Light and Portable

The scooter weight of 8kg is light for an electric scooter. It's foldable too, so it's easy to transport on buses and trains or in the car.

Other Features

The scooter has a solid 6" front tyre and 5" back tyre so you won't get a puncture ever!   It takes 2 to 3 hours to charge which is super quick compared to some other scooters. Kids can choose to stop with the handlebar brake or the rear brake on the back wheel.

Finally, an LED tailight helps them to be seen.

Electric Scooter with Top Speed of 12mph

Razor E200

This Razor E200 has a recommended age of 13 years and above. Having said this, there are reviews of much younger children using this scooter, so again it really is down to individual judgement as the age group the scooter is suitable for.

It has a bigger frame than the E100,  a good size for older children around about 11 and 12 years old.

It's features include a rechargeable 24V battery which allows the scooter to go up to speeds of up to 12mph / 19km/h. Like the E100, the charge time is lengthy, with approximately 12 hours required.

It's easy to operate with a twist-grip acceleration control and a hand operated rear brake. The scooter has one speed, and no variable acceleration.

No kick start is required. Hop on the scooter and off you go!

The E200 has two 8 inch pneumatic tyres (as opposed to just the front wheel on the E100) so offers a smooth and comfortable ride. Although it's not really designed for off road, the air filled tyres will give a more cushioned ride over uneven surfaces when needed. It has an all steel frame and fork and a high-torque chain driven motor

Budget Electric Scooter

Homcom Kids Electric Scooter

If you're looking for a budget choice, the Homcom is one of the least expensive electric scooters on the market. Despite it's low price, it has some nice features which includes a foldable handlebar, adjustable height and durable frame. It's aimed at kids between 7 and 14 years old who are under the maximum weight capacity of 50kg.

Speed and ride

One place you may compromise with this scooter is the speed. If you're looking for a speedy scooter, there are better choices. It has a maximum speed of 7.5mph (12 km/h) - the lowest maximum speed of all the scooter on this page. However this is good for younger kids and riders who aren't bothered about going super fast.

There is a hand operated brake for easy stopping.

The wheels are solid and airless so you may feel bumps of the terrain when riding the scooter.

When you need to stop, use the handy kickstand so you don't need to lay your scooter on the floor.

Battery

It has a range of 8 to 10km with a charge time of between 5 and 8 hours.

Adjustable height.

There are height adjustments between 73cm and 91cm, so it can be adjusted to the optimum height for your child.

Overall it's a budget electric scooter. It won't last forever but it's a fun choice for  kids.

3 Wheel Electric Scooter for Young Riders

Zinc T-Motion 3 Wheel Electric Scooter

Looking for a solid, safe 3 wheel electric scooter for a young rider? The Zinc T-motion could be just what you are looking for. A short charge time and super fun on 3 cool light up wheels with speeds up to 7km/h or 4mph makes this a good choice for young thrill seeker.

The rapid charge time of just 2 hours is a big plus point of the Zinc t-motion. Kids can be back out playing before they know it! And it goes up to 6km before the next charge is needed.

It folds for easy storage and transportation and at 4.2kg it's light enough to easily carry.

With an anti-slip footplate and easy grip handlebars, little ones can feel safe and secure when riding while being the envy of their friends with the light up wheels. The wheels are friction powered so do not use any of the battery.

Just a few kicks are required to start the scooter with the push n go acceleration making it easy for young kids to get going. Going uphill may need a few extra kicks giving kids an additional workout.

This 3 wheeler may not be speedy enough for some, but it's the ideal choice for young kids who want the security of 3 wheels but the thrill of a fun ride!

Marvel Spiderman Electric Scooter

Recommended for the 8 plus crowd, the Marvel spiderman electric scooter is a cool choice for young superhero fans. It reaches speeds of up to 8km/hour.

It has a higher maximum weight than the zinc scooters at 70kg. It's frame size is also slightly bigger at 90cm tall by 46cm wide. But it is quite a bit heavier (at 12kg) and the charge time is longer at approximately 8 hours.  The ride time from one charge is around 40 mintues.

The scooter is powered by a chain driven motor an 80w high-torque motor and the 140mm PU wheels offer a quick, smooth ride.

Young adventurers will find it easy to use with twist 'n' go grip acceleration, a fully printed, anti-slip footplate and a reactive rear footbrake and handbrake for responsive stopping power.  And use the spring kick-stand for easy storage and when taking a break!

Buying A Kid's Electric Scooter - A Guide To Features and Specs

Tyres

Electric scooters will have either urethane or pneumatic tyres. Urethane wheels are fine for lighter use and for younger children but older kids and adults will definitely require pneumatic tyres to give them more tread when riding, provide a smoother ride and to take the extra weight. However, pneumatic tyres will cost more.

Urethane wheels will only be suitable for use on smooth surfaces such as pavements but they won't puncture. If you intend to use the scooter for long commutes or for use off road, choose a scooter with pneumatic tyres.

Battery Life and Charge Time

Batteries on electric scooters for kids have traditionally been lead acid batteries that you will see on most Razor electric scooters. The downside to the lead acid batteries is that they are generally heavy - adding weight to the scooters.

However, more recently electric scooters for kids have used lithium-ion batteries, which are lighter and more energy dense. They don't need as long to charge and have good longevity. However, they will be more expensive which is why the faster kids scooters such as the Razor E300 still tend to use a lead acid battery. The more powerful lithium ion batteries will cost a lot more than a lead acid battery.

Lead acid batteries take much longer to charge than lithium-ion batteries.

Ride Time

The average ride time on a scooter varies from around 40 to 60 minutes. Most scooters offer a ride time of at least 40 minutes on one charge. However, the ride time will depend on a variety of factors such as the weight of the scooter rider. The heavier the rider, the quicker the battery will drain. Also the terrain will affect the ride time. A battery will always last longer on smooth and flat terrain compared to inclines and uneven paths.

Different factors will affect the ride times on each charge. Razor have developed a hub motor on their range of power core electric scooters for kids. This has doubled the ride time on one charge on many of their scooters with the power core E90 and E100 having around 60 minutes continuous ride time on one charge.

A Retractable Kickstand

A retractable kickstand is extremely useful. This will allow you to stand the scooter up when not in use.

Kick Start

Many scooters require a kick start of around 3mph before the electric motor starts. Some require less and some scooters don’t require any kick start for the motor to work. Kids shouldn't have any trouble getting a scooter up to 3mph. Generally it's just a few kicks of pushing power.

Speed

The speed of the most common and popular electric scooters for kids tend to range from 5mph to 15mph. The speeds advertised tend to be the top speeds a scooter will reach in optimum conditions with smooth, flat surfaces to ride and with a lighter rider.

Push Button Vs Twist Acceleration

Some scooters feature a button which will start and stop the electric scooter. whereas others have twist grip acceleration.

A push button may be easier for younger kids to control and get used to whereas older children may prefer the feel of twist grip acceleration. Many electric scooters for kids only offer one speed whether they have a twist grip acceleration or a push button. However, some electric scooters offer variable speed with the twist grip acceleration. These tend to be higher end models.

Maximum Weight

Pay careful consideration to the maximum weight of the rider. Some scooters have a fairly low weight limit so will only be suitable for children. The weight limit of the scooter may also affect the length of time your child will be able to use the scooter too.

Brakes

Scooters should either have a hand brake or a foot brake to slow down

Purpose

Why are you buying the scooter, the purpose will very much affect the one you choose. If you are buying for a child, factors such as fun, safety and battery life will be most important. However, many people now use electric scooters for the commute to and from work or via a train station. Therefore considerations will relate to top speeds, battery life, the weight of the scooter (will you have to carry it on public transport?) or whether or not to have a seated scooter will affect the decisions of which ones to buy.

Built In Light

If you are choosing a scooter for the commute another feature you may want to consider is a built in light so you can see where you are going in the dark evenings. Some have just a front light. Others feature a rear one too

Seat or No Seat

Some electric scooters designed for commuting also feature a seat for extra comfort. Others have the option of removing the seat. Check out some electric scooters with seats for kids.

Cost

Obviously the amount you pay will have to be weighed up into consideration to the features the scooter has. When looking at the price of the scooter make sure you have the best features for the money you are paying

Foldable

Some electric scooters have the capacity to fold. This makes them easier to transport and store. It's also useful when you want to transport the scooter in the car boot and if you want to they could be taken on a train or bus as well.

Space Scooters Reviews of the New Craze

What is a space scooter?

Space scooters are a different type of scooter. They work by pushing the board using alternate feet in a seesaw motion. You don't need to press too hard, not too much force is required which makes it easy for kids aged 8 plus to use (younger kids do use these as well).  Some designs can also be used like a traditional kick scooter as well.

The top space scooters for both kids and adults are the X580, X590 and for younger kids the X360 check our reviews of how they work and the pros and cons.

Space Scooter X580 Review

The X580 space scooter is designed for kids aged 8 and above. It has a maximum weight capacity of 90kg so if you're under this weight, why not have a go too!

Like all space scooters, it works by using the unique pump and go system. Place your feet on opposite ends of the deck (one at the front and one at the back). Then push down with alternate feet like a see saw to move the scooter forward.

The scooter folds down easily for transportation and storage. Easy to put in the boot of a car when needed. Great for trips for the park. The handlebars can be folded down too.

The 200mm (8 inch) PU wheels can really pick up some speed, which means awesome fun!  A helmet is recommended when riding one. The more kids pump on the board, the faster this scooter will go. Once they've reached their required speed, just maintain the see saw pumping action with feet to keep maintain the momentum. No electric or batteries are required. Leg action propels the scooter - a great workout for kids. The scooter works particularly well on flat ground and downhill. It also works uphill but will take a bit of effort!

The powerful brake on the handlebar makes it easy to slow the scooter down and come to a stop. Feet are not required for braking so no scuffed shoes! Kids are in complete control of acceleration and speed.

A real plus point of the X580 is that it features air suspension to absorb the bumps in the road which gives a smooth, comfortable ride. The unique drive train on the scooter provides a silent ride too.

There are 3 different height settings on the handlebar, so kids can set the the height to suit them.

Surprisingly, the setup is easy and quick.  You can even watch videos on youtube showing how to set it up the X580.

Another awesome feature is that the space scooter can be ridden as a kick scooter.  Pull on the folding trigger and press the platform down into its folding position to do this. It is heavier than a kick scooter, not too bad, but it weighs just over 8kg.

When you've finished riding, just use the kickstand to keep it upright. Some minor maintenance is required to ensure optimum performance such as keeping it lubricated and clean .

Verdict - Space scooters are a really fun ride which will get kids away from their screens and outside playing. They are unique so other kids, siblings and adults are bound to want a go. Kids will love space scooters and the X580 is a great option for the 8 plus age group.

Space Scooter X590 Review

The X590 space scooter is the updated version of the X580 with some new and improved features. It does cost a little more, but the extra few pounds may be worth it. This review will help you decide if that's the case.

Perhaps one of the big differences is the increased weight capacity on the X90 which is 115kg. It's still designed for kids aged 8 and above but the extra weight capacity will allow most adults to jump on and have a go as well.

Other improved features include an updated and improved drive-system which means you can go even quicker on the X90. Because of the extra speed there is also a strengthened brake. And premium rubber "lock-on" as handles give even more "grip" during the ride.

It still shares many of the pros with the X580. It's foldable, has a height adjustable handlebar (86-111cm) and features 200mm PU wheels.

Space Scooter X360

The junior space scooter X360 works in the same way that the bigger version does. Alternate feet push against each side of the board to proper the scooter. However, it is smaller and is designed for kids age 4 plus. It's easier for smaller kids to learn to ride this one when they start out.

Smaller design
It features 2 x 6 inch PU wheels. It’s lighter than the X560 scooter at 6kg. The maximum rider weight is 60kg. The deck is also smaller than the X560

Age Recommendation
The age recommendation for this scooter is between 4 and 7 years old.

Rockboard RBX Scooter

The Rockboard RBX is another brand of space scooter rated for kids aged 8 plus. It works in the same way as a space scooter (you rock the board with your feet in a see saw motion) but is a different brand.Rockboard won the TOTY award in 2012 and runner up in 2011 for best outdoor activity.

What's really awesome about the RBX is that it can reach speeds of up to 18km/h (10mph) so you can really fly when you want to.

The weight limit is 100kg, so if you're under this, there's no good reason whey adults can't have a go too! Honestly, it's fun - try it out.

The telescopic handlebar can easily be adjusted for the right height and it can be adjusted to any height setting rather than just two or three notches.

It's slightly lighter than other models of space scooter at 7.2kg. However, it doesn't have a folding mechanism. This is absolutely fine if you want to use it around the neighbourhood but makes it a bit more difficult to transport in a car.

There's a handbrake for easy and safe stopping power. A bit of assembly is required but it only takes a few minutes with easy instructions.

Also don't forget a helmet!

Videos

How fast do space scooters go?

The scooter will go about as fast as a regular scooter. It goes quite fast downhill but is slower going uphill. Make sure kids where a helmet for extra safety when using the space scooter.

Can you use space scooters off road?

Space scooters are not designed to go off road. They work best on smooth surfaces such as paths or pavements. However they should be able to go over uneven parts in the pavement as well as over bumps and cracks with no problem.

Is a space scooter suitable for a 7 year old

The age recommendation on the X580 space scooter featured above is 8 years plus. However, there are reviews of  7 year olds using it and many 7 year olds will be absolutely fine on this scooter. Obviously each child is different so ultimately it’s an adult’s call.
There is also a junior space scooter X360 for younger children which is featured below. This is for ages 4 to 7.

How did the space scooter get it's name?

Apparently using one feels like you are walking in space!

Maxi Micro Scooter Review

Maxi Micro Kick Scooter Review

Are you looking into buying the maxi micro scooter? This article answers all your questions and tells you everything you need to know about this scooter.

What is the Maxi Micro Scooter?

The maxi micro is a 3 wheel scooter aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 12, within the height range of 110cm to 152cm.

As with all scooters that Micro make, there is little debate that these scooters are well engineered, well designed and will last a long time. However, the Maxi Micro is one of the most expensive 3 wheel scooters for kids on the market.

Are Maxi Micro Scooters With the Money?
Many people are prepared to pay more for a high quality, durable scooters as long as they know exactly what they are getting for their money. So what is so good about this scooter? How does it compare to other 3 wheel scooters for other children? Are there any good alternatives to the maxi micro? Read on to find out the answers to these questions and more!

What is So Good About the Maxi Micro Scooter?

In summary this scooter has it all. It is a huge height adjustable range so can be adjusted to the perfect height for children between 5 and 12 or within the height range of 110 to 152cm. It will grow with your child within these age ranges.

The PU wheels give a really smooth, comfortable, quiet and fast ride. There's no rattling that you get with many cheaper scooters. It’s super lightweight which makes it easy for all children to control and manoeuvre.

It is built to last. Each key part can easily be repaired or replaced so this scooter will last a lifetime if it is looked after properly.

Another factor to note is the scooter has a "lean to steer" mechanism. This means that kids lean to go left and right rather than using the handlebar to turn direction.

The Maxi Micro sounds and looks good so let’s look at some of these features in detail.

Can you fold the maxi micro scooter?

There are six versions of the maxi micro scooter. You can only fold the deluxe foldable Maxi Micro and the Deluxe Pro versions. However you can remove the stem from the base of all the other scooters for easy storage and transporation. Read more about the different versions of the scooters below:

The Six Versions of the Maxi Micro Scooter:

Classic Maxi Micro

The classic version doesn't have a foldable handlebar. This is because the when the scooter was first designed, they decided against a folding mechanism to make it as lightweight as possible. A folding mechanism adds weight to the scooter so it wasn't included in the original classic design. A lighter scooter is easier for young children to control. They can lift it up and down kerbs and steps while scooting. It’s also easy to carry a lighter scooter when you need to. For example, you may be in a busy street or park. Or a young child may be fed up of scooting and parents may have to carry the scooter. However, the handle bar stem can easily be released from the base by pushing in a push button when you want to collapse the scooter.

Deluxe Maxi Micro

The deluxe model isn’t foldable but like the classic, you can remove the stem from the base for storage and transportation. The deluxe also features an anodized stem which protects against wear and tear. A unique, moulded footplate improves grip and allows an increased weight-limit for riders, meaning that as your child grows, the Maxi Micro will grow with them.

Deluxe Foldable Maxi Micro

The really good news is that now micro have designed and built a foldable version of the scooter which is the maxi micro deluxe foldable version. With their advanced design team and engineering it's still super lightweight at 2.5kg but it is slightly more expensive than the maxi micro classic.

The foldable feature is useful. It makes it easy to carry. You can easily store it in lots more places such as under the stairs or in a cupboard or transport it in the boot of a car.

And as an added bonus, the foldable deluxe scooter features LED lights on the wheels.

Eco Deluxe Maxi Micro

New In - now you can pick up the Eco deluxe Maxi Micro. The deck is recycled and made from discared fishing nets, so buying one helps clean up plastic pollution in the seas without sending it to landfill. Unfortunately this Eco doesn't fold, but you can take the stem out of the base.

Deluxe LED Maxi Micro

This version has all the features of the deluxe scooter plus flashing LED lights so the rider will stand out from the crowd! Great for dark winter afternoons and evenings.

Deluxe Pro Maxi Micro

The new pro version has chopper style handlebars which makes the pro easy to control. It also features fattie wheels. These wide wheels not only look cool, they give extra stability for the rider.

My son has this scooter. Read our review of the Maxi Micro Deluxe Pro.

How Do You Adjust the Handlebar on the Maxi Micro?

Quick Release Clamp
It's super easy to adjust the handlebar  of the maxi micro scooters thanks to  a quick release clamp. You release the clamp, adjust the handlebar to the desired height and then replace the clamp to secure it in place.

Huge Height Adjustment
The handlebar adjusts from 67cm to 92cm on the maxi micro deluxe and classic versions, so you can make sure it’s the perfect height for your child. The handlebar is so easy to adjust that you can easily adjust it in between riders if more than one kid of a different size wants to have a go. No tools are required.

How Do You Steer the Maxi Micro Scooter?

Like the mini micro,  you lean to steer the maxi micro. Kids have to lean to the left to go left and lean to the right to go right. This is easy to pick up,  especially if they've never used a scooter before. However,  it can be more difficult for children who are used to steering with the handlebars.

Maxi Micro Wheels

The Maxi Micro offers a very smooth ride and much of these can be attributed to the wheels. They are made to PU and have excellent bearings. The front 2 wheels are 120mm and the rear wheel is 100mm so the ride is powered from the front. The scooter easily manages any bumps and cracks in the pavement giving a really smooth, comfortable journey for the rider.

What is the Weight Limit on the Maxi Micro?

The maxi micro has a weight limit of 7 stone 12 pounds or 50kg. This should accomodate most kids within the 5 to 12 year age range.

What About the Footplate?

The footplate is unique among scooters as it is made of fibreglass which is a super strong but extremely lightweight material. The footplate is 58cm long which is a good size for children of the intended age group

Longevity

One of the major selling points of the Maxi Micro scooters are that they are designed to last. If you are worried about too much stuff ending up in the landfill, then this scooter can relieve these fears. And of course, there is the eco version with a deck made from recycled material.

As already mentioned each important scooter part can be repaired or replaced. Therefore there is no reason why this scooter can't be passed down to siblings, cousins or friends. It also has a fantastic resale value. So once you have finished with this scooter why not sell it second hand? You can recoup some of the initial outlay making the original price of the scooter a lot less.

Are there Alternatives to the Maxi Micro?

The maxi micro is expensive so people often ask if there are any alternative 3 wheel scooters for older children. And the answer is yes there are. However, they do compromise on some of the features the Maxi Micro offers. This doesn't mean they are no good. Some of the features of the Maxi Micro may not be important to you so it may make sense to go for an alternative.

Some of the alternatives include the Globber Master, Globber Ultimum and 3 Style Scooters. You can read about these alternatives on the 3 wheel scooters for older children page.

Maxi Micro Classic vs Maxi Micro Deluxe

As already mentioned there are several versions of the Maxi Micro scooter.  Some of the differences have already been mentioned but the diagram below highlight the main differences between the classic, deluxe and deluxe LED foldable.

Can an 11 or 12 year Old Use the Maxi Micro?

The maximum age recommendation for the maxi micro is 12 years. However, the age recommendation, is really just that, a recommendation. To see if it is suitable for older children you really need to look at the maximum height and maximum weight limits. The maximum height recommendation is 152cm (5 foot). The maximum weight recommendation is 50kg (7 stone 2lbs)  on the Maxi Micro classic. Therefore if your 11 or 12 year old child comes in the maximum height and weight recommendations they will be okay to use the scooter.  However, they may not have much growing room on the scooter and it may not last them for long.

Can a 2, 3 or 4 Year Old Use the Maxi Micro?

The age recommendation for this scooter is from aged 5. However, younger children do use this scooter. In order to determine if the scooter could be used for a young child you need to look at the height of your child.

Ideally scooters should have handlebars which come up to around hip to waist height. If the handlebar is higher than waist height, it makes the scooter more difficult to control. If you imagine riding a scooter with a handlebar up to your chest, you can imagine how difficult this would be for a child.

The lowest handlebar setting is 69cm on the Maxi Micro, so you can measure how high this would be on your child. I would think this would be too high for most 2 and 3 year olds, but it might be okay for a tall 4 year old. 2 and 3 year olds would be better on the mini micro. The highest handlebar setting on the mini micro deluxe is 67cm. The Mini Micro Deluxe is designed for children 80-110cm tall so this will probably suit children within the 2 to 4 year old age range better.

The mini micro scooter is also lighter so easier for younger and smaller children to control.

How Much Does the Maxi Micro Scooter Weigh?

Both the deluxe and the classic version weigh 2.5kg so it's super lightweight, easy to control and carry. The new pro version of the scooter weighs 2.9kg.

Are there Different Colours?

Yes, there are lots of different colours including black, green, redpink and purple (#amazon affilliate links)
